Antique four poster BED,
- c1850 Classical Empire,
- Alabama provenance,
- highest grade fiddle-back mahogany,
- “#625” on inside post / corners,
- scalloped arch crest and double paneled headboard,
- octagon tapered post,
- turned acorn finials,
- excellent untouched crazed surface and finish,
- original bolts and castors.
- these beds were originally offered with canopy strips or full ogee tester frames (not included on this bed).
96.5” tall (w/castors), 64” wide, 82” long.
to outside of rails- 60.5” wide, 77” long. For mattress to set on top of rails.
Condition - solid, excellent original finish (shows crazing), age split on one footboard post. dn69
- This appears to be related to a group of canopy and low post beds I have found in several Alabama mid 19th century homes over the last many years. They are all numbered as this one.
