- Mappin & Webb mark, Sheffield, England (1863-1898). John Mappin firm was joined by his brother-in-law George Webb in early 1860s and opened retail trade in London. Mappin & Webb produced luxury goods and received Royal Warrants. Mappin, London retailed the naturalistic Staniforth Patent biscuit boxes. - Staniforth Patent biscuit box created c1880 by William Staniforth. This patent had mechanically connected fold-down sides that were considerably tight to preserve freshness of its contents. “To properly use a Staniforth Patent biscuit box, first open the hinged covers to access the compartments, then fill each section with your desired biscuits or cookies. Properly close the covers securely to keep the contents fresh”.
