c1820 Classical sleigh bed, NYC, H Lannuier / Duncan Phyfe, mahogany, bronze

Circa 1820 Classical Empire sleigh bed, probably H Lannuier, NYC, (or Duncan Phyfe) highest grade figured and mottled mahogany, ash secondary wood, unusual sleigh bed orientation-not intending to be side placed to wall, bronze mounts on Classical columns on headboard, inlaid band (vertical only) panels, great scrolled footboard with curved paneled, carved paw feet, original slats.
Original large bronze wheel castors (impressed-“Bennett &Co Patent Bristol”) on four iron
dovetailed brackets (impressed-“Bennett & Co Patent Bristol”). Two castors missing. Brand - Empire.
Construction is typical bolt attachment on inside of rails, footboard scrolls are held with a vertical bolt into bottom of scroll.

59.5" wide, 88" long,   headboard-52" tall,   footboard-35" tall,   inside/mattress measurements-59.5" wide, 78" long.

Condition - great untouched original surface, shows crazing, great grain visibility, some rub spots on finish, one bubble of veneer on footboard-no wood loss.       646h
