Circa 1840 Empire pier table, possibly Thomas Day, North Carolina, solid walnut, molded edge on original wood top, ovolo molded skirt, ogee shaped columns, double paneled back with mortise and pegged construction, shaped front of base shelf, scrolled feet.
** A pair of these chairs have become available. They are also very likely Th Day. These are some from a set I first sold in the 1990s. Please contact if you have interest.

34.5” tall, 37” wide, 21.5” deep.
Condition – excellent old, possibly original finish, a few old repairs on shelf at point of attachment to “breadboard” shelf sides.     591h

- Thomas Day (1801-1861). African-American cabinetmaker working in NC / Va area opening a shop in Milton, NC in 1827 working till 1871 (operated by son Tom Day, Jr to 1871). Circa 1850s Th Day operated the largest cabinet shop in the area.
