Circa 1850 Gothic Elizabethan side chair, solid walnut, probably Boston, MA, full open back with carved Gothic motifs, ovals, arches, trefoils, double spiral front legs and stiles.
Double spiral turnings are very often seen on Gothic and Elizabethan styles and are often attributed to J&JW Meeks and A Roux of New York City. Brand - Gothic.

44.5” tall, 17” wide, 23” deep, seat height 18”
Condition – needs restoration, untouched original finish, original brass/wood casters, no breaks on frame, legs or back stiles, old repair on backside of open back, missing three crest finials.        869

- This chair is similar to a chair in the collection of Boston Museum of Fine Arts, item 1976.645.
- This has identical spiral turnings to a signed sewing stand I am currently offering . The stand has c1845-51 signature of Croome, Hixon & Co, Boston, MA.
