Circa early 1800 Classical Federal cast iron fence post, finest heavy castings.

Finial - great large urn shaped finial with ribbon and draped motif, reeded body with egg and dart base, finial weight – 35 lb.

Body - main post body with inset panel on two sides with great vase with leaf and berry “tree”, molded base and rail connection, post only weight – 68 lb.

49.5” tall, 19” tall finial, 7” sq, 7.25” at base.        Total weight - 103 lb.

Condition – exceptional patina on old black paint surface.                594h

Provenance – the Blount estate, Montgomery, AL.
- Possibly from circa 1820 resort area north of the Birmingham area.
