Pair circa 1815 Federal / Neoclassical side chairs, NYC, possibly Duncan Phyfe or Ch Lannuier, high-grade solid mahogany, reeded X-splat back, scrolled panel crest with Lannuier style plain sheaf carving with bow-tied ribbon, reeded Classical X-frame and bowed back with square rosette, curving and tapered reeded stiles with turning above seat rail, excellent balloon shape figured mahogany seats with woven cane, “winter” padded cushions, turned and reeded tapered front legs, curved and tapered rear legs. Brand - Federal.
Condtruction - seat rails with strip laminated construction, figured mahogany on probably birch, chestnut rear rail, front legs mortised into seat rails.
33” tall, 16.5” wide, 19” deep.
Condition – good old finish, solid frame and legs, solid old repairs on front legs at seat mortise connection, cane unusable, old cushions included for pattern. 1453
