Circa 1820 carved Federal secretary desk, probably New York State, figured and flame mahogany, banded inlay on deep fold-out writing surface, acanthus carved pilasters with well-carved paw feet, three full lower drawers with later Chippendale revival pulls, brass mullion on double doors with thirteen individual light doors, flame mahogany frieze panel.

78” tall, 39” wide (43” wide at crest), 23” deep.
32” tall at writing surface.
Condition – overall excellent, old finish, 1962 repair and finishing notes on top board, three cracked panes, solid repair on back foot, three veneer spots missing.       6hw

Provenance – Purchased at Flomaton Auction (1996) by Mr Hugh White, Pollard, AL. Mr George Seeley, Essex, Conn (1962).
- Likely cabinetmaker from north of NYC. Many fine cabinetmakers were producing higher quality items like this along the Hudson River in population centers like Albany and Troy, NY. Makers such as Michael Allison.
